No experience. Questionable fitness level. Nervous about walking into a martial arts gym. Here's what you actually need to know.
Krav Maga was literally designed for everyday people with no martial arts background. The Israeli Defense Forces needed to take soldiers with zero fighting experience and give them effective self-defense capability fast. That's the origin of the system — not elite athletes, not experienced fighters. Regular people.
That design principle is baked into everything. Techniques are based on natural body responses, not complex motor patterns that take years to groove. The system prioritizes practicality over aesthetics. You learn what works, not what looks impressive.
It means our instructors meet you where you are. It means the pace of class adjusts so you're challenged but not lost. It means you're not judged for what you don't know yet. About 60% of our students came in with zero martial arts experience. Many of them are now among our most dedicated members.
You don't need to be in shape to start. That's not a sales line — it's just true. You get in shape through training, not before it. The first few weeks are an adjustment. After that, your body adapts and the training becomes something you look forward to.

Start Your Free 7-Day Trial →Zero. Krav Maga is designed to be learned quickly by people with no martial arts background. In fact, beginners sometimes progress faster because they have no bad habits to unlearn.
Most students leave their first class with techniques they can use. Real competence builds over months of consistent training — but you're not walking out empty-handed after class one.
Classes are physically demanding but scalable. Instructors adjust intensity for new students. You'll be sore the first few weeks as your body adapts — that's normal and it gets easier.
Most martial arts have a long beginner phase before techniques become practical. Krav Maga is designed for practical application from day one — you learn what to do in real scenarios immediately, not after years of forms and kata.
